One step ahead in mixing technologies for XXL bioreactors
With the development of a new design for bottom-mounted magnetic agitators, ZETA achieved a technological leap for aseptic mixing processes of large volumes of cell cultures in XXL fermenters.
In the pharmaceutical and biotechnological industry one of the main challenges is the transfer of mixing processes from laboratory to industrial scale, especially when it comes to ensure the required mixing times, shear forces and special requirements to hygienic design. While magnetic agitators have been used for preparation systems with a maximum working volume of 30 m² and for smaller bioreactors of up to 3000 litres so far, the new agitator type allows for the use in bioreactors with a volume of up to 30 000 litres
